Research Social or Economic Development

Question: Discuss about the ResearchforSocial or Economic Development. Answer: Research Background: The students of any educational institution- school college or University are the assets of that institution and the social or economic development of any nation is directly connected with the academic accomplishment of the students of that particular country. This is the reason as to why the academic achievement of the students of any country plays an integral role in shaping the future of the country. While initially most of the research studies have focused on the methods of evaluating the academic performance of the students, very little or no information can be found about the factors the affect the extent to which a student accomplishes in the academic sphere. A variety of internal as well as external factors have been found to influence the academic performance of a student. Among the internal factors, the genes and the personality traits of a student will considerably influence the academic performance of a student. Recent research topics have suggested that the genetic makeup of a child can affect up to 80% of the academic accomplishment of a child. His cognitive capability, his learning and memorizing skills, as well as his intake capacity would be determined by the heretical components. Again, at the same time, the environment in which a student is born into can also influence his academic growth in a positive or negative way[1]. The health condition of a student is also an important internal factor here. In case a child is physically disabled or is born with severe learning disabilities, he might not be able to complete his education with excellent grade. For example, a child born to illiterate parents is likely to not get sufficient parental guidance at home, as opposed to a student born to educated parents, who will always be motivated to learn new things in school and college. Besides, a variety of external factors also play a crucial role in determining the academic accomplishment of a child. for example, the geographical location of the house of a student. In case a student lives in a remote corner of a city, he will find it impossible to gain access to the educational resources on a regular basis, and with low attendance and inadequate study materials, he is less likely to excel in his academic matters. Again, the financial condition of the students family is also known to exercise a remarkable impact on the academic accomplishment of the student[2]. In case he students family has a poor standard of living, he might not be able to buy the necessary books, or go to a good school, or eve resort to additional course materials necessarily for brushing up his academic skills[3]. The teachers act as the main gu iding force, inspiring and motivating the students to accomplish academically, and hence the nature of the teachers, their teaching strategies or their qualification will also determine the extent to which a student accomplishes in his academic life. Hence, as stated above, a variety of factors affect the educational performance of a student. The academic accomplishment of a student refers to the outcome of educating a student. It is futile to educate a student, if his educational accomplishment and capability for the same is not measured and evaluated. It is pointless to expect that a student coming from a remote area, not attending the college every day, excel in his studies as much as his friends. Hence, it is important to access and analyze the factors affecting the academic performance of a student, and this will help in taking effective measures so as to improve the individual performance of each student. Research Problem Statement: The difference in the academic performance between two or more students cannot be merely explained by the willingness or reluctance of the students concerned. A variety of heretic as well the socio-economic factors play an important life in influencing the academic performance of a student. Hence, the research topic that the research study intends to explore is to determine a variety of factors, both internal as well as external, that play an important role in affecting the academic accomplishment of a student. Different educational institutions intend to improve the academic performance of their students, and hence intend to adopt a variety of strategies that can enable its teachers offer high quality education to its students. However, when a student cannot perform well, the teacher is often blamed, and yet a thorough investigation of the case reveals that other factors, such as disability of the student or his financial condition were to be held responsible for the same. Hence, it is important to develop a comprehensive understanding of the possible factors that can potentially affect the academic performance of a student, so that the management authority of an educational institution can implement the necessary measures. For example, in case a student lives in a remote area and that is found to affect his performance, he can be provided with e-resource facilities[4]. The research study will thus help in reviewing the literary articles to gain an insight into the possible factors that can determine the academic performance of a student. Further, it also intends to examine if both internal and external factors play a strong role or not, and whether these factors can be controlled, to facilitate the future prospects of the students. Research Questions: The research questions that the research study intends to explore are as follows: Does the academic performance of a student get determined by factors other than the students willingness to study? Do the factors like the students family members or his genetic make-up play an important role in determining the extent to which he accomplishes in the academic life? Can the diversity in the student profile in the very same class lead to varying levels of academic performance, given their academic learning capability is the same? Is it possible to control the abovementioned factors, and can it help in improving the academic performance of the students? Research Objectives: Every research study is conducted with the help of a group of objectives, which help in providing a sense of meaning and determination to the research study. Hence, the research must have a set of pre-determined objectives which needs to be taken into consideration, while investigating the research problem. The objectives of the following research are as follows: To develop an understanding of a variety of factors that can influence the academic performance of the students in an educational institution. To determine the extent to which external or internal factors can affect the academic performance of a student. To investigate exactly which factors are most likely to influence the academic accomplishment of a student and why To examine if the diversity in the student profile in the very same class lead to varying levels of academic performance, given their academic learning capability is the same To investigate the extent to which it is important for teachers and educationist to take these factors into consideration. To determine if an educational institution needs to examine and investigate the factors affecting the academic accomplishment of a child first, before getting him admitted in the institution. To critically reflect if there are any preventive measure that can help in eliminating these factors, and how can the same benefit the growth of the student and lead to the organizational success of the institution. Conclusion: To conclude, it should be remembered that it is the responsibility of the management authority of any educational institution to ensure that its students achieve quality education. In case the same is not happening, a thorough investigation into the personal profile of the student can help the teachers in the implementation of effective teaching methods.
